How we record commitments

How we track public security commitments

What We Track

This record tracks public security commitments stated by:

  • Companies and other organizations developing frontier models
  • National governments and regulatory bodies
  • International organizations and multilateral agreements

A commitment qualifies for inclusion if it is publicly stated, specific enough to be verifiable, and relates to security risk from advanced AI systems.

Status Definitions

Sourcing Standards

Every status assessment is backed by documented evidence:

  • Primary sources: Official statements, published policies, technical documentation from the committing entity
  • Independent verification: Third-party audits, government reports, and published technical reviews
  • Investigative reporting: Journalism from established outlets with editorial standards

Each status update must cite at least one source. We prioritize official documentation and verifiable evidence over secondary commentary.

Update Process

Status changes are made when new evidence demonstrates a material change in implementation. Minor updates (e.g., timeline adjustments within expected bounds) are noted but may not trigger a status change.

We review high-profile commitments quarterly and update the record as new information becomes available.

Corrections Policy

We correct errors promptly. If you believe a status assessment is inaccurate or have evidence we should consider, email [email protected] with:

  • The specific commitment in question
  • The proposed correction
  • Supporting evidence with links to sources

All corrections are reviewed and, if warranted, updated within 7 days. We maintain a changelog visible in each commitment's evidence timeline.

Limitations

This record tracks public commitments only. Internal security measures, classified government programs, and private agreements are not included unless publicly disclosed.

Status assessments reflect the best available public evidence at the time of evaluation. Some commitments may be fulfilled in ways not visible to external observers.
